Gabriel Medina wins the NIKE Lowers Pro

The young Brazilian, Gabriel Medina, wins yet another ASP event. This time at Lowers Trestles in California in what is one of the hottest events of the year.

20 years ago, a young Kelly Slater started his winning streak at Lowers. Could this be the start of Gabriel´s winning streak? Can he be the next Kelly Slater???

Mick Fanning rings the bell

There are only a few people in the world that can ring the bell like Mick Fanning did this week. Two time world champion, Mick Fanning defeated 11 time world champion Kelly Slater to take the Rip Curl Bells Beach Pro. Mick, an Australian, took the title to keep it in Australian hands. His second win at Bells Beach. His first being in 2001. Way to go Mick.

The contest was intense and the final was mind blowing, especially after Kelly´s full 360° rotation alley oop that scored him a perfect 10. If one watches the videos, it is hard to say that Kelly Slater was defeated, but then again, it is just as hard to say that Mick Fanning didn´t win.

After this contest, Kelly Slater moves into 1st place in the ASP world rankings, moving Taj Burrow to 2nd place and Mick Fanning in 3rd.
