The countdown begins for the Acapulco pro surf open 2013

The celebration was officially announced at a recent press conference for the Acapulco Pro Surf Open, which is the first event of its kinds this year and will be giving away a pretty hefty purse, followed by ALAS and ASP events at various beaches around Mexico. But now, the countdown has begun for the Acapulco Pro Surf Open and it set to take place from April 4th – 6th, 2013 in the Diamante Peninsula development in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico.

The event was announced by Arturo Tamayo, Alan Robledo and Joe Estrada of the organizing committee, along with Javier Hernandez, President of the Guerrero State Surfing Association, who had this to say: “the event will consist of two important categories: the Shortboard Open Category with a total of $60,000 pesos to be given out, and the Bodyboard Category with $30,000 in prizes, making that a total purse of $90,000 pesos”.

The competition is open for all surfers from all nationalities and with the participation of some of the best wave-riders in Mexico, the quality is guaranteed so you can expect a great show.

The Women’s and Youth Categories will also be on display, plus we’ll get to see a special surf session by Daniel Gomez.

Separate prizes will be awarded for best trick, best tube, and best aerial.

Other activities to be enjoyed include a pool party, beach volleyball, a surf movie night, a bikini fashion show, ecological awareness by the Playa Hermosa Turtle Camp, as well as a live concert following the event on Saturday. The closing party will be on the Palladium nightclub terrace and is sure to be a good time.
